The properties of lemongrass are endless: Antibacterial Anticancer Analgesic Antiseptic Anti-inflammatory Insect repellent Revilatiser Sedative Tonic So

My distilling space is filled with the sweet smell of concentrated lemongrass and is slowly but surely drifting out the window and into our family home. My results (5ml of lemongrass essential oil) have taken hours to arrive at.

First the lemongrass must be harvested, and quality tested. The brown grass removed and only the best quantity kept. The produce is then chopped into 10ml lengths, washed and drained and either sun dried or dried in a low heat oven. A steam distiller is loaded with the chopped lemongrass and set on heat, with cold water constantly on the run. Once this is heated the hydrosol (steam distilled lemongrass water with essential oil ) slowly begins to drip into the sterilised catcher. The distillation process usually takes about an hour and the essential oil is caught at the top of the hydrosol.

Hydrosol is the steam converted back into water and loaded with essential oil. This (instead of water) is the base of all of our products (with the exception of our bath salts. Our Lemongrass hydrosol is our normal skin toner! Organic pure beautiful sweet lemongrass. Check out our shop or email me for more info. Have a beautiful day
